INTRODUCTION

Excellence in nursing education is achieved through dedicated nursing faculty and their ongoing commitment to teaching/learning, student success, scholarship and service to the community. The process of learning involves student-teacher partnership and cooperation in meeting student and program goals. The nursing faculty serves as role models who guide students in developing an understanding of the discipline and in developing leadership, accountability, cultural competence, safe and ethicak practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

PROGRAMME GOAL

The generic programme of Diploma in registerd community health nursing is designed to produce culturally sensitive nurses and equip them with capacity to provide leadership in clinical practice, nursing education, health governance and participate in research

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT AT NEP COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

He/She must meet the NCK entry requirements, and accept college missions and philosophy, without regard or preference to gender ethnic, race or religion being imposed as a condition for admission. The college will use the NCK Diploma in KRCHN entry criteria as the minimum entry requirement as stipulated below

ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR KRCHN PROGRAMME

For one to be admitted for KRCHN Programme one has to be atleast 17 years on the last birthday and with the following minimal educational standard as per NCK

  1. Aggregate KCSE: C plain or KCE Division II
  2. Mandatory subjects: C or Credit in English or Kiswahili
  3. C or Credit in Biology or Biological Sciences

ADDITIONAL SUBJECTS

C- or pass in any of the following: physics, Pjysical sciences, chemistry or mathematics

For Admission to NEPCHS for a diploma course in KRCHN an applicant must meet the following requirements

  • Be a holder of a Kenya national id, passport, allien registration or passport of a foreign country country or any other legal proof of nationality.
  • Be subjected to background check fore assesment of conduct, behaviour, character, attitude and capabilities
  • Apply for the course within specified period announced by the college
COURSE DURATION

The course shall take 36 months (3 years) students must complete and pass in all prescribed block before proceeding to the next block

AWARD/CERTIFICATION

The graduates will be awarded a diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (Basic) (KRCHN)
